The idea of a radiator thermoregulator as an automatic room temperature regulation device has been known for dozens of years. It is a proportional, self-actuated temperature regulator operating continuously in an automatic control system to keep the preset value at a constant level. The first thermostatic valve was constructed by Mads Clausen, the founder of the Danfoss company, in 1943 [2]. Figure 4.2a presents a typical radiator thermoregulator as a combination of a radiator regulation valve with a thermostatic head. Figure 4.2b presents an on-valve electronic head as an alternative to the thermostatic head.
